Skaalen is a popular independent, assisted living and skilled care retirement living community in Stoughton that had contracted with Hoffman for their phased master planning efforts. Vogel Bros. Building Co. was selected to perform the renovations of the skilled care facility on their 100 acre campus. The goal of the project was to upgrade the systems, make energy improvements and refresh the facility to eliminate its institutional look and feel. The facility remained occupied during the renovation, so work was phased one wing at a time across the three wings on each of the two floors. The renovation included the common areas shared where the wings come together: nurses station, dining area, pantry spaces. Resident rooms were converted from double occupant rooms to single occupant, suite-like rooms to offer a warm and welcoming environment.
