Tavistock is developing the new 26,000-acre Sunbridge community, located northeast of the City of St. Cloud in Osceola County, with an estimate buildout population of 35,000. Tavistock and the Toho Water Authority entered into an agreement for the construction and operation of a new 1.0 MGD WTP to supply drinking water to the new community. The water plant was paid for by Tavistock, constructed by Vogel Bros. Building Co., and then handed over to Toho Water Authority (TWA) to become one of their regional facilities. Based upon past successfully completed ozone projects in Central Florida, Vogel Bros. Building Co. was invited to participate in an invite only selection process for the project. Vogel Bros. Building Co. was selected based upon price, qualifications of the project team, and approach. The plant consists of two water productions wells supplying onsite water. The water will first be treated with ozone treatment consisting of liquid oxygen (LOX) storage and delivery system, ozone generators, power supply units, cooling water system, sidestream injection system, ozone dissipation chambers, and ozone destruct units. The water will then be dosed with sodium hypochlorite, hydrofluosilicic acid, and a corrosion inhibitor. The water will then be stored in a 1 million gallon Ground Storage Reservoir. The water is then sent to the distribution system by a high service pump station. The project also includes the construction of a new operations buildng that will be occupied by TWA staff. And a new controls system that will operate the facility and tie into TWA’s existing SCADA system via radio.
