For more than six decades, Oakwood Village has been helping older adults lead lives of growth, happiness, health and security. Given the popularity of the Prairie Ridge campus and a growing waitlist, Oakwood Village embarked on an expansion that included 73 new apartment homes. This project was a considerable renovation and addition, and Vogel Bros. Building Co. choose to serve our longtime customer in a greater capacity as Owner’s Rep. As such, we helped Oakwood Village through the selection process for a design team and construction management team. The project consists of three five-story towers, connected via 2nd floor indoor walkways. Units range between 950 and 1,450 square feet and the project will include screened-in balconies, a first for the Prairie Ridge facility. All apartment homes will feature large windows and residents will share a floor with no more than five other units to add to the desire for increased privacy. To enhance the community feel, each of the three towers is centered on an outdoor courtyard to be enjoyed by all campus residents. Raised garden beds, a fire pit, and outdoor recreational activities are all amenity possibilities for the courtyard. Underground parking will be provided as well.
