Vogel Bros. Building Co. served as a subcontractor to Sachse Construction, LL Bean’s national construction partner for the interior buildout of the Hilldale Mall retail store. When WS Development redeveloped the Hilldale Mall, they moved away from the tired traditional mall environment, and opted for a modern, open-air center. This transformation attracted premier tenants like LL Bean, who then needed to make the “white box” that WS Development provided into their outdoor enthusiast retail mecca. Sachse Construction subcontracted the carpentry scope of work to Vogel Bros. Building Co. In addition to the usual of casework, countertops wood trim, millwork and shelving, Vogel Bros. Building Co. furnished and installed several hand crafted wood trellis’, slat wall structures, and barnwood slat wall paneling throughout the sales floor. While the LL Bean store was not open for business during construction, the mall itself was, including the two neighboring businesses Apple and AMC Theaters.
