Vogel Bros. Building Co. is leading construction of the Dane County New Public Safety Communications Facility — a highly coordinated, mission-critical building designed to support continuous emergency response operations.
This phase establishes the core building infrastructure, including structural systems, exterior envelope, and essential mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems required to support 24/7 communications operations. The project incorporates steel decking and structural systems, high-performance exterior wall assemblies, reveal metal wall panels, and comprehensive glazing systems to ensure durability, energy performance, and long-term resilience.
The facility is designed with advanced mechanical systems, including central heating and cooling plants, ground-source heat pump integration, in-floor heating systems, variable air volume distribution, computer room cooling systems, and fully integrated Building Automation Systems (BAS) to optimize performance and maintain strict environmental control requirements. Testing, adjusting, balancing, and full commissioning processes are incorporated to verify operational readiness prior to occupancy.
Electrical infrastructure includes emergency power systems, automatic transfer switches, portable generator docking stations, uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems, overcurrent protective device coordination studies, and arc flash analysis to ensure life-safety reliability and code compliance. Fire protection systems are designed in accordance with NFPA standards and include fully coordinated sprinkler zones and life-safety integration.
Additionally, the project integrates a roof-mounted photovoltaic (PV) energy system to support sustainability goals and enhance long-term operational efficiency.
Delivered with rigorous quality assurance standards and comprehensive commissioning, the facility establishes the resilient, high-performance foundation for a state-of-the-art public safety communications center built to serve Dane County for decades to come
