The Wisconsin Center for Education Research (WCER) at the University of Wisconsin–Madison’s highly ranked public School of Education is one of the first and most productive education research centers in the world. It has assisted scholars and practitioners develop, submit, conduct and share grant-funded education research for more than 50 years. It provides services and resources for UW–Madison researchers, graduate students and their collaborators, as well as educators, funders and communities locally and around the world. If was to remain an incubator for advances in education policy and practice, it was in desperate need of a facelift. The renovation is the first phase of a 12,000 sf multi-phase project and accommodates over 50 staff with collaborative spaces and meeting rooms. This project included the renovation of the entire fifth floor of the Educational Sciences Building, replacing an outdated layout and infrastructure with workspaces that meet the current needs of the WCER with the goal of creating a mix of open work and activity areas, including conference rooms and private offices on the floor.
