Vogel Bros. served as the General Contractor for major upgrades to a 15 MGD wastewater treatment facility to enhance biological nutrient removal and improve overall plant performance.
The project focused on process modifications to achieve effective nitrogen removal. Key components included construction of a new flow splitter box, demolition of equipment and piping within existing primary clarifiers, and installation of mixers in anoxic basins to support enhanced biological treatment. New NRCY pumps were installed in the aeration basins, along with demolition of existing air piping and diffusers and installation of new stainless steel air piping and diffusers to improve aeration efficiency. New blowers were also installed within the existing blower building.
Additional scope included installation of a new 42-inch influent pipe to the headworks, relocation of the existing odor control unit, and installation of new yard piping with selective demolition of existing piping as required. The project also encompassed comprehensive electrical, instrumentation and controls upgrades, as well as associated civil work.
Through detailed phasing and coordination within an active treatment environment, Vogel Bros. successfully delivered complex process and infrastructure improvements that increased treatment efficiency, enhanced regulatory compliance, and strengthened long-term operational reliability.
