Project Description

Since 1983, Capitol Centre Market as served the downtown community. The small, friendly, quirky locally owned store needed more space to better serve their customers. In 2018, a portion of the building that had been vacated by another tenant was repurposed to provide extra square footage to expand the Market. Excavation below the former hardware store would provide a basement for a new meat cutting room, cooler and freezer. While the space above became a mezzanine and new home for offices and breakroom. A new deli department was a welcomed addition along with expanded hot food offerings and a new Sushi bar that provides fresh sushi made on site daily. The fresh produce department grew by over 25%, and other significant improvements were made to the daily, meat, frozen and grocery areas, as well as a new walk in beer cooler is twice the size of the one it replaced. The infrastructure of the building was also improved. new energy efficient heating, air conditioning and compressors replaced older less efficient equipment. The whole project was completed in four phases over the course of six months so that a department was never taken offline to accommodate construction. It was important to the owner, as well as the community that their service and products remain fully available, 24/7 to the community they served.
