Project Description

Vogel Bros. Building Co. served as the General Contractor for the construction of the new Aloma Water Treatment Plant and the modification of the existing Magnolia Water Treatment Plant for the City of Winter Park.

The project included full architectural, civil, and mechanical construction of the new 11.5 MGD Aloma Water Treatment Plant, along with upgrades to the 4.3 MGD Magnolia Water Treatment Plant to incorporate advanced ozone treatment for disinfection. Major components of work included construction of two raw water wells, installation of four high service pumps, ozone system equipment, and a 2.0-million-gallon cast-in-place concrete storage reservoir.

Additional improvements encompassed instrumentation and controls, telemetry integration, a new operations facility, an ozone facility, standby emergency power systems, site work, paving, stormwater ponds, and landscaping. The project also involved demolition of the University Water Treatment Plant and abandonment of two existing raw water wells.

Delivered through an Invitation to Bid procurement method, the project was completed with close adherence to the original contract value. Through detailed coordination of civil, mechanical, and electrical systems, Vogel Bros. successfully delivered complex water treatment infrastructure improvements that enhanced system capacity, operational efficiency, and long-term reliability for the City of Winter Park.
